Description
In a poorly lit room, your face looks grey and your eyes disappear into shadow. A ring light fixes that: its circle of light lights your face from the front, softly and evenly, and draws a nice round catchlight in your eyes. It is the accessory for TikTok and Facebook lives, video calls, make-up tutorials and product photos for selling online.
Three tones, adjustable brightness. The control box on the cable switches from warm to cool light through neutral, and sets the brightness to suit the room and the time of day.
The phone in the centre. The phone holder, on a flexible arm, places the camera in the middle of the ring: you look at the camera, and the light faces you.
USB powered. It plugs into a phone charger, a computer or a power bank: handy for keeping a live going even during a power cut.
Two sizes. The 6-inch, about 16cm, sits on a desk for calls and selfies; the 8-inch, about 20cm, lights a wider area, for lives and head-and-shoulders videos.
Good habit: the ring fixes onto a tripod with its standard screw ball head. The tripod is not included, but the shop has them. Place the ring at eye level, or slightly above, for flattering light.
